Yes, safaris are great and the beaches are diverse and dramatic. But an Africa getaway doesn’t just have to be about 4*4 game drives or lazy strolls on cotton soft sands by crystal blue waters. If one always is looking to soak up the continents breathtaking scenery, and have an eye for adventure, then there’s only one place to be; at the top.

From the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) ,Rwenzori(Uganda), through the forest-clothed slopes of Mount Kenya, to the alpine meadows of the great magnificent mount Elgon (Uganda)extinct volcano dominating the skyline along the Uganda-Kenya border and Virunga Mountains a chain of volcanoes in East Africa, along the northern border of Rwanda, Congo and Uganda. Making it to the summit of Tanzania’s 5895 meter Kilimanjaro, and you’ll be standing at Africa’s highest point. The majestic mountain is Africa’s most visited trekking destination, attracting tens of thousands of tourists and adventurers every year.

You don’t have to be a technical climber to climb Mount Kilimanjaro; always our clients have been pretty physically fit. We have had more people requesting Kilimanjaro in the last two to three years because it’s something they feel is attainable and due to the fact that it can be combined with a family vacation that’s why I think it’s so popular.

Rwenzori mountains national park the fabled mountains of the moon is world class mountaineering destination. It lies in the western Uganda along the Uganda, Congo border. The equatorial snow peaks include the third highest point in Africa, while the lower slopes are blanketed in moorland, bamboo and rich, moist montane forest. A nine-to twelve day trek will get skilled climbers to the summit of Margherita the highest peak at 5,109 meters.

Mount Kenya; a long –extinct volcano, mount Kenya is Africa’s second highest peak at 5199 meters. Lying just south of the equator, the mountains glacial valleys, successive vegetation zones and diverse wildlife guarantee you spectacular scenery and fantastic trekking experience. The ascent, however, to the mountains steep ice-capped peaks is quite challenging. Mount Kenya is the most technical, probably, in the east Africa area.
At the mountains crest, temperatures rarely rise above freezing point. There several routes on the way to the mountains summit, the majority of which take between three and seven days to complete.

The Rwenzori peaks, Mount Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro are permanently snowcapped and are the only such ones in the Equatorial Africa.
Mount Elgon is a magnificent extinct volcano were you can explorer ancient caves and zip past spectacular cliffs, over which mount Elgon’s streams cascade as dramatic waterfalls. Elgon Slopes are covered in ancient dense forests and spectacular moon-like moorland zone blanketed by tree heaths, massive groundsels and lobelias. There several routes to the mountains peak wagagai and the full trekking circuit takes up to five days. A descent into the vast caldera, at 40 kilometers long and 8 kilometers wide, is also a must. The Virunga Mountains also known as mufumbira are chain of volcanoes in Rwanda,Congo and Uganda. The mountain range is a branch of Albertine Rift Mountains, which border the western branch of the east African rift.
The mountain range consist of eight major volcanoes, most of them are dormant, except mount Nyairagongo 3462m and mount Nyamuragire 3063 meters both in the DRC. Recent eruptions occurred in 2006 and in January 2010. Mount Karisimbi is the highest volcano at 4507 meters and the oldest mountain is Sabyinyo which rises 3634 meters above sea level. Mount Gahinga 3474 meters in Uganda and Congo, mount Bisoke 3711 meters in Rwanda and Congo and mount Muhabuura 4127 meters in Rwanda and Uganda. The Virunga Mountains are home the
critically endangered mountain gorilla. Hiking East African Mountains is terrain and ability to combine a wildlife experience with the climb.
